Disadvantages to a 250x?
#1
I'm thinking about selling my 300EX and buying a 250x.
One, i know it will be in better shape.
And 2 i can save money and put them in mods.
Now if i do this..Will i lose anything other than electric start.
Really power wise..

You lose some engine displacement, obviously, but you also lose some weight. Not just the starter, but the battery, relays, etc. Some people prefer the 250X because it feels lighter. I doubt if you would notice the difference in power when you are riding.

it depends on how good of shape the engine in the 250X is, if it runs good then you prolly wont notice much of a difference, i know when i bought mine i realized it wasnt quite as strong as my friends 300EX, thats cuz mine was running rich AND the rings were shot.... if it is in that bad of shape get rid of it, but if it is something fixable, KEEP the EX....

???
selling the ex for an x????
believe me when i bike is worn out (this is a directly proportional relationship to time?!) it will cost ya money, doesn't matter if it is honda or not.....it will cost you money
seals
bearings
bearing carrier
timing chain
compression rings
tie rods
bushes,pivot bearings
seat
valve guide
selector in the gearbox....
lot of these things are replaced with age, ie rubber parts, metal fatigue?.....my view is newer is better
pay a bit more on purchase for a better bike
or you will only pay in the future
i would love an ex......but my x has cost me too much (and its still basically std!)
i have to keep it to get my value out of it!
......think before you leap!
in some peoples eyes they may be the best bikes in the world (hey i have never owned anything but honda)
but at the end of the day they are only plastic, rubber and steel, it will break or wear out adventually
ride hard
pudding

i hit a concrete post not so long ago
didn't bend the a arms though
bent the frame behind the bottom a arm mounting point....and stuffed a rim (i brought itps, getting it straightened still)
.....took it to a chassis straightener (for cars), no worrys, fixed it in a couple of hours....the cracked plastic i had from the accident he cut out beautifully, its hard to tell it was in an accident
cost a bit but hey....ain't no such thing as a free meal
