Today while cleaning my quad i noticed that my swingarm has a hairline crack on top near the pivot...this 450 is 6 months old and not ridden very hard. I weigh 185 and ride a couple of times a week on a MX track with a few small jumps. If this quad can't take what I dish out ....it is not going to hold up for a lot of others. havent seen anything in mine yet but if you jump these things and ride them hard sooner or later stuff is going to break.
I would like to eventually get a chromoly swingarm just for the added strength even though i may never need it. BUT if you dont ever plan on upgrading your swinger i would look on ebay NOW to get a backup. the 450r parts are alot cheaper now than they will be once more of these bikes get out there and the demand for replacement parts goes up. i think i seen a swingarm on ebay that went for around 75 bucks. it was like new and replaced because the guy was a racer.
this one is a lil more expensive but u guys can keep an eye on it to get an idea

"Broken" is a catasrophic failure like when you land a jump and the things snaps off. Not quite the same thing as a "hairline crack"! Is it off warranty yet???

 

wow......first we've heard of this too.....keep a close eye on it, and I would still ride.....I would also try contacting Honda, and see if they will replace it.....that is one good thing about the pred, heavy, but the swing arm isn't going to break. Hopefully honda will be good to ya....

 

If anyone needs to buy a new stock swingarm call Johnny at 918-371-0101. He just bought a new TRX and will be yanking all the stock stuff off like he always does and selling it and the swingarm will be one of those items.

 

just contacted dealer today about swing arm....don't know if warranty or good business will apply
