Tires! Those stock balooney tires aren't that great. They make the bike "push" a little in turns, and make it a bit tippy. I put on Holeshot XC's on ITP T-9 rims, and it makes the bike 3" wider in rear and 2" in front, and it is a lot more stable. (The XC's rears are 20" vs. the stock tires that are 22", so that effectively lowers my gearing, for more low end power, which is nice for trail riding. I do lose a tiny bit of ground clearance though.)
DG nerf bars and bumper, and light plastic Maier skid plate.
FMF MegaMaxII muffler, UNI foam filter (flows a lot better than stock, yet way safer than a K&N), vented airbox lid (about 9 of those 1" round UNI filtered vents), and of course a rejet.
Aftermarket handlebars.

I too have run K&N's (with Outerwears) with no apearent problems, but have now switched all my bikes back to foam. One thing that always bothered me, was that the K&N's were always so clean. If it isn't catching the dirt, where did all that dirt go??? With the K&N, what do you have between all that dirty and a disaster? A LITTLE THIN PIECE OF GAUSE. With foam, you have a half inch of oiled foam, that isn't going to let anything through, no matter what. It's pretty obvious!
A good quality foam filter like a UNI, flows air a lot better than you might think! I would rather sacrifice a small amount of performance, for the piece of mind knowing my engine is getting maximum protection.
