If you have a 1987 R and a 1989 R frame with the swing arm and you would like to update it to the 89 frame what else do you need?

all of your 87 parts will fit on your 89 frame and swingarm. the only difference between an 87vs.89 is in 89 they ran somin diff. in the engine like the compression or gearing i don't remember but all your parts will swap over nicely. & they put an aluminum swing arm in 89..

If you're talking about swapping the 87 motor into the 89 frame, it's not a problem. The difference between the 2 frames, at least in the swingarm area, was that on the 86-87 frame the swingarm had the rear motor mount bolted to it. The engine mounting holes are all the same. As for other components, most of them should bolt up. Note that the footpegs are different from 86-87 to 88-89.

My main concern was i the rest of the parts would fit. I have to change the frame on my 87 and I thought since I have to do that I might as well change up to a later modle Instead of fnding a used frame for a 87.
