well u mite remember but at the begining of summer my 400ex had some sort of transmission problem, or so i thought, i figured it was the shift forks. well i finally got a job and have money to get parts and fix it so i took the engine out of the frame figuring it was the shift forks so i would have to split the cases and all that fun stuff but today after getting it out and ready to do the work i had the rite side case off looking at the clutch basket and it wasnt shifting, the roller thing wasnt going into the bottoms off the tines on the star like it should when u shift. i threw the cover bak on cuz i didnt want dirt gettin in it tonite and just for the hell of it tried shiften it again and it went. i shifted it through all gears up and back down. ne ideas? help me out

Howd the oil look? Were there any chunks of metal in the bottom of the pan?
Im assuming youre rocking the output shaft, while youre shifting, to confirm that it is shifting?
Sometimes its not easy explaining why things ,suddenly work, or for that matter, why it stoped working.
If things look good, Id button it up and go riding.
