there COMPLETLY diffrent quads a 250R is a 2 stroke and is the best quad ever made well a 250X is a 4 stroke and is pretty much the same thing as a 300EX the 250R is just plain better but the 250X is better for trail rides..... mainly cause its a 4 stroke and anthor thing a R is ALOT more $$ than a X

As they said above the bikes are totally different. u can buy a 250x for around $1500 too $2000.A 250x is a 4-stroke, The maintanence for the bike is a lot less and u don't have to work on it as much. 250r is around $3000-$3500 or higher and it is a 2-stroke which requires more maintanence and work. I got a 250x, and i love it. Well i can't say for the 250r because it is a totally diffrent kind of a bike than the 250x and i never rode one before. 250r bikes are usually beaten though because everyone who has one rides the hell out of em and races em.
