honda foreman cv axles
#1
Just wondering how dependable the cv axles usually are on the foreman 450s models. I just purchased one this past weekend and the left side inner keeps twisting the boot on the inner cv joint. Looks to me like the axle has to be slipping in the inside of the joint. Its a brand new machine with only 10 hours on it as of now..I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow to see if the warranty will cover it or if it will be called abuse..Has anyone had trouble with the stock units?

I've never had trouble with the boots sliping or any other problems, not caused by me. I tore up a boot when I got stuck in a bog hole and a stick came up through the suspension, and rubbed/tore up the boot as I was getting unstuck.
If the boot is slipping on the axle, then either the boot clamps are not tight, or there's a problem with the CV joint inside.

i had marked the location of the cv boot when i re-installed it the last go round..the marks are still in line so apparantly the axle shaft has to be twising in the splines of the inner cv joint. i hope the dealership replaces the whole axle instead of just trying to repair this one, not being sure of the cause..i will let you know. thanks for the response.
