No, it is way different. The 300 is male on both ends of the shock. On the 400 there is a link. That makes the shock female on the bottom.

Ntrx, just curious, why did you put 400ex hubs up front? when I put 400ex a arms and shocks on my son's 300ex, I just bolted them up to the stock 300 hubs. For back shocks, you can put in a Warrior shock, or, for a little more travel, a 2001 Raptor shock. The only thing with a Raptor shock is you will need a longer hose to the rezzy, not a lot of good places to mount the rezz on a 300ex, I tried to tie it beside the air box and the kid destroyed the hose and rezz. on a big jump ( chain caught them both ). Either of those shocks is better than the stock 300ex, and will bolt right in.

LOL i have 400 ex front hubs, 400 ex front shocks , 300ex a arms and the original 250x spindles. The main reason for the 400ex hubs is because i got a set of black powdercoated ITP beadlock wheels with brand new ITP hole shots for 300 bucks. These rims and tires are not cheap at all if u look up prices. They were off of a 400ex that someone wrecked but the rims and tires were still good. So after a lil research it was nice to learn that the parts on 250x/300ex and 400ex's are interchangeable. They all have the same size wheel bearings all the way around. Plus they all have the same brakes and a arms. plus lots of other things. So i got a set of 400ex front hubs off of ebay for 20 bucks(dirt cheap!) and put em on. Looks really cool with 400ex front hubs and shocks. makes people that dont know do a double take. LOL thanks for the warrior and raptor idea shock info. Yeah im lookin for a good amount of travel for big jumps. The 400ex shocks are great on the front. I jsut need a rear shock to match.

The swing arm swap won't be easy. The 300 swing arm is frame mounted. The 400 arm bolts to the engine, so the pivot will be different.

Oh dont worry im gonna take tons of pictures when its done. Ive spent the last 4 weeks now gathering parts to build it the way i want. Im gettin closer to being done but im not there yet. Unfotunatly weve been havin trouble gettin the trans to work right but its being looked at this week. Im hoping to have it ready in a few weeks. your 250x is really nice lookin. super clean thats for sure. I have looked at your pics before. What are u looking to do. Build a new quad or work on yours? Everyone says im nuts but ive spent almost enough money now to go and buy a new 300ex. Building this quad up from just a frame has been alot of fun. But its definalty not for everyone.

:EDIT: oh yeah almost forgot to say i bought an 03 raptor rear shock today for 150 bucks. Im gonna order a longer stainless rear brake line so i dont have to worry about ripping the line out from the resevoir lol. Hope fully itll give me the travel and ride i want.

I hope you can get your money back on that 2003 Raptor shock, as I said, you need a 2001, that is the only year they came with a remote rezz on a hose, the other years have a piggy back rezz that is part of the shock, there isn't enough room to clear that, thats why the Warrior and 2001 Raptor shock are needed, both come with a hose and remote resivoir.
