Recon 250 Problems
#1
I have a Recon 250 that will start but will not remain running unless you hold the throttle down. It is a 2002 model recon. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas of what maybe wrong?

i had the same problem with my 92 fourtrax 200! its sorta liek the recon but smaller. well the problem was that id be driving it but then id stop pushing the throttle and let it idle than it would stall. so my dad found the owners manual for it and come to find out that the switch on the gas tank said ON and OFF and it was on off b/c i thought it was for the reserve tank but it was for the fuel line to be on or off. so check out if you have a on/off switch fo rur fuel line and even check out if the reserve gas tank is on on or off. hope this helps!

I have already checked the fuel supply valve and it is in the on position and the recon doesn't have a reserve tank. The recon has plenty of gas and is definitly getting plenty of spark. If anyone else has any other suggestions please let me know.

I got it fixed. Somehow the airfilter element got soaked with gas and once i dried it out it fired right up now if I could find some decent tires for the back it would be great. Thanks to you guys for trying to help.

Sounds to me like just a simple matter of to low an idle speed. Turn in the idle screw on your carb, a tiny bit.
