Default Sportrax 400EX

Hey. My buddy is wanting to buy a quad. He has never owned one. After looking into them, he has decided he likes the Honda Sportrax 400EX, which I personally believe is a great quad for trail riding. Although this may be true, I have tried to convince him to buy a utility quad before he goes for a sport as they are much simpler to operate, work with, and learn on. He says he wants a sport first. He says he wants something that will, "Tear through trails and hit at least 60MPH stock." Should the 400EX be a good quad through trails (I heard they were one of the best, not on speed, but for trail riding) and hit at least 60MPH? Thanks for your help!

60MPH is easy...from waht ive heard they top out from 66 to 68, so they get a nice stock speed for their cost and size, and they jump good. i have one, and its awesome

Except for learning a full manual hand clutch (which he may know already), there aren't many utilities that are as easy to learn on as the 400EX. The exception might be the little bikes like the Recon, but no way are the big heavy ute beasts anywhere close to the EX's great handling.
