First of all, they ran your bike on a dyno at the factory. They run it full throtle, through all 5 gears. So much for breaking it in easy!

I use Motoman's method. Do run dino oil (like Honda GN4) during the break-in period. I change the oil and filter at 1-2 hrs., then again at 10 hrs. After that, you can run the oil of your choice. I like Honda HP4M, a synth blend with moly in the engine, and Honda HP Trans Oil in the transmission.

Great article on oil. Everything that pertains to the CRF's, also goes for your 450R! Change your oil often, on this bike!

Hard and fast........

Just like the Motoman article states.

Just remember to allow for a full warm up prior to getting it on, or getting on it!

Same thing I have always done, even on rebuilds. Change the oil after the first couple hours to get rid of all the machining burrs that break loose. Other than that......pour the fuel to it and let her breathe.

1/4 throttle for the first 10 hours, followed by no more than 3/8 throttle for 15 hours,
1/2 throttle for 15 hours, then get on it.

I've always been told that running synthetic oil in a new engine is bad..that you should use regular oil until the break in period is done..then use synthetic oil if desired??
