What's up with my rear brake pads. The stock ones lasted only about 2 months, then i got EBC's and they only lasted 3 months. My friend said the ones that have a copper look to them last longer. I really dont use my rear brake that much, i have not touched the front brakes at all.

Yes, back your parking brake adjustment all the way off, it's useless and only causes the pads to wear away faster.

OR, a nice dose of mud caked in and around the caliper does a really nice job of sanding down break pads whether you use the rear brakes or not. I've used up a set of pads in a month when I wasn't getting ALL of the mud out from the swingarm shield and the caliper. Just an idea. I have my "parking brake" HA!, does anyone ever use that?, backed off.

I am putting my 3rd set on this weekend, I race XC though so I will use them up. The last stated the deal about mud. This is true, mud, water, sand, they all will wear them down.

Stupid me!

I have seen a lot of post about getting block-off plates for the parking break, but never knew what exactly that meant.

Glad this post was created.
