250EX In the making!! Need help though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#1
OK first off, i know someone is gonna come into this forum and tell me my best upgrade is a 300EX. Well that is not an option. I bought a 2003 250EX in spring of 2003. I bought if from a guy who bought it for his g/f. They broke up and he sold it for cheap. I had enough money saved up (im only 15yrs old) to buy this atv. I ride with my buddys all the time and i have a track behind my house. I am looking for some aftermarket plastic because my friend rolled mine and it cracked the front right fender. I have looked at maier and have been wondering. Is there any aftermarket plastics available for the 250EX. Will 300EX or 400ex plastic mount on mine. I also am looking for some good performance parts that wont drain my money out. Please help!!

well, i havent found any aftermarket plastics for a 250ex, and front plastics from a 300 or 400 would definately not work because of the different headlights, but the 300ex back plastic would probably bolt on, but ur best bet in fixing the front plastic to make it look better is just cut it (race cut) take some masking tape and make lines to see how u want it, then use a jig saw to cut along those lines, then a file to trim the rough edges, i have a buddy that did that and it doesnt look half bad, although mudding is a b!tch for him lol

and about the mods, air filter and jets are the first thing, which will add up to around 80 bucks depending on what u get, exhaust is the next..i personally like the looks of the hmf and yoshi, hmf is about 50 bucks cheaper tho, that will knock the price up to about 500 bucks, if u still have money left over, u wanna make ur quad look good right? so get some nerfs, and handguards....if u still have money and still want more, get the durablue +2 axle, and there is an a arm extension kit seller on ebaymotors.com, high quality kit, will give u either a +4.5 using 400ex shocks, or even as high as a +6 using 450r shocks! or u can stay at... i think its 3 inches using the stock shocks all of these mods will run u at a good 900-1000 bucks!
that should keep u busy for awhile lol

i agree cut the fenders avoid muding lol. start with air filters and jets. exaust is next. and by the tim eu do this if u are saving for each part u will have ridden the life out of your shocks front especialy the rear will probubly be ok for a while so look to buy some nice after market shocks that arent to expensive (works)

Just stitch it up with wire ties.
www.servicehonda.com for stock plastics
Good advise: if you get new plastics keep your friend off of it. J/K

If you get Dirtwheels magazine or have ne friends that do, scan throguh it and i found a site were you can get front plastic on the 250 for preety cheap. If you want more power, www.powroll.com makes a bore kit for the 250.

i wouldnt recommend the bore kit for the 250, i've only heard bad about it..just my opinion on that tho....but ur main concern on mods to start off with would have to be suspension, cuz u dont wanna hard landing that will screw up ur ride, and prolly even urself
get a durablue +4 eliminator and some elka or worcs shocks, i think worcs is a tad bit cheaper.

Yeah, i was doin some readin up on the bore kit for the 250 and id leave the internals preety much stock, maybe a cam, but dont push it to much. Most mods dont even give you the power gain you want. Def. upgrade your shocks first. You'll be very happy you did. Works at steelers are a great buy. And the axle's a god buy to.

Right here is the best place to get your plastic! When you first go to this website, you will notice that Ronnies is one of the sponsors. Click on it and you can look up your machine on microfiche and buy your fenders there. I think the front is around 90 bucks and the rear about the same. I looked it all up a couple of weeks ago for the 02 model 250ex. Front and rear fenders, one mud guard and bolts, all new decals were gonna cost about 200 bucks! I was looking at buying another 250ex that I had found and the plastic was cracked and faded. I have ordered parts from Ronnies before and they are great.
