Default reliability?

i was planning on boring out my 400ex to a 440 soon. i was talkign it over with a friend and he says that ill be wasting my money because im going ot blow my bike up. i have a very good mechanic who really knows his stuff. is there a big reliability concern with these 440 kits or will i be ok?

Thats a total misconception.....
IF your work is done properly, your 440ex can last just as long as a piped quad. you just need to make sure and maintain it properly and make sure who ever does your work had good crudentials. Ive had my 426 for alomost a year now and Im VERY happy with the work.Ive had no issues what so ever with mine. Good luck Tina

there's guys on here who have had 440ex's for like 2 or 3 years and ride them hard, and they've had no issues. u can do jus about ne thing to that motor and it will still be reliable. i've even seen a 465 kit, although it's not popular cuz reliability drops off a lot.

I've had the 440 since 2001 and never had a problem with the bike

Ive had mine installed for over 2 years with some hard hours on it, and it runs just like it did when I installed it.

there's the dillema, a well built 440ex can run with a 450r or yfz, but even simple exhaust mods can make one of those 450s run away from you. this is assuming that ur not running alky or nos or have a turbo or super charger on ur 440ex. i decided to buy a 450r because it was gonna cost less to sell my 400ex and buy a 450r, than mod a 400ex to a 440 and upgrade the suspension, just to make it comprable to a stock 450r.

Yeah, if you want a higher performance quad, get the R.

The only problem I have heard of with the 440's is heating issues...the stock 400EX heats up enough...so with a 440..maybe get a bigger oil cooler and air scoops.
