Im no expert but I would have to place my bet on the larger 440ex. No replacement for displacement bro.

The 400EX and Z400 are very close to begin with, if the 440EX is built right it should beat the Z pretty easily.

z400 if it is jetted correctly. i assume your talking about drag racing and the honda is running the stock cam.

Default 400ex question

If the only thing done to the engine (ignoring the bolt on mods like filter, and pipe) in the 440EX, I'd say the Z400, mainly because from personal experience, I have a friend with a 440EX, with just the big bore kit, and my other friend with less riding exp beat him on top.

I would assume that anyone that puts in a 440 kit would put in a new cam... Otherwise they're better off not doing anything at all if they're into drag racing. I've personally seen 440EX's where the owner just slapped in a 440 kit without taking all the other variables into consideration, and then they wonder why stock bikes are winning them in drag races.

My friend just raced the 440ex and lost. It wasnt by much, but the 400ex had more all around power. My friend kept making up lies why he lost like i couldn't keppt he front and down and BS like that but he knew he out right lost.

Also take sprocket size into account. The 440 will definitely put out more horsepower, especially if it has a stage 2 to breathe better, but this power will be useless unless the bike is geared right. I would say that the 440 would be able to take the Z400 fairly easily if both riders have nearly the same riding skill.
