I am planning on buying a brand new 80cc motocross dirtbike by christmas, and I wanted to know how it will keep up with high performace quads like the 400ex in speed, jumping, and handling? How about a 250r? I know I will need some practice before I get good with a 2-stroke bike. I am planning on getting a 2001 KX85. I would get a 250r, but it is cheaper to get a new mx bike(not to mention how hard it is to find a 250r in nice shape for a decent price), and my xr185 is getting too old for me. Does anyone have an opinion on this bike?

I would think you would be able to keep up if your a good rider. I know a kid who rides in the open class on a CR80 big wheel, he keeps up with some CR500s, some 250s, and can spank almost any 125. just my 2 cents...

Oh, I forgot to ask how it does on steep hill climbs and what are some good mods for it?

I owned a KX105 big wheel for a while, You will have no problem keeping up. Huge hill climbs will take some effort as you have to keep the engine on the pipe useing alot of clutch. Look at the XR200R if your into hills. My friend is 22 and over 200lbs and came in 4th place in a open class woods race with a 1987 XR200R so it isnt a sissy bike if you know how to ride.

What I have now is an understroked xr200, but after riding a 250r that my dads friend owns I have a sever craving for 2-stroke pipiness. And after riding a cr80, I decided that that was something I need.
