Default GPScape Question and Concern

I have a 2004 rubi and did not get the gps option. I was wondering if the GPScape is something that can be added to the rubi or would I be better off with a handheld unit. Thanks for your help.

i dont think so because the gps has it own little battery built in the gauge pod plus the wire harness doesnt have the right amout of wires to hook it up

the gps is not all its cracked up to be.
the hand held ones draw a map so you can see where you are.
the one on the honda just points to the last way point and if you dont mark every turn and move you make you'll be lost.
its just an arrow pointing its not near as detailed as the hand held ones.
the extra 200 dollers for the gps would be better spent on a hand held one.
the only reason i got the gps is because it came with the quad and i told the dealer that i dident want to pay for the gps so eather give to me for free or order me another one without gps.
so he never charged me for it.
but its still better then nothing.

It's a gimmick. Better off with a handheld. BTW what happens when it breaks (and a GPS will fail sooner or later, especially with the rough riding)? Can you imagine how much Honda spare parts would charge for that replacememt? Maybe have to replace the complete pod!! (I don't know).

With a handheld you can also move it from your truck, car, other ATV, etc.

Also GPS's are really just for fun. How many time would you need it to find your way out on a trail. Unless someone drops you in blindfolded you'll find your way out (trails marked, etc). The fun options are speed and the odometer functions. However most quads have this already.
