The 400ex's are dogs from the factory, kinda feels like you're riding an electric quad. They're smoothe, quiet and the accelartion leaves alot to be desired but once you mod them, they're a totally different animal.

Why buy yesterdays technology. The 400 is very popular but in my humble opinion you would be much happier with a z400 a yfz or a 450r. Just my 2 pesos.

i would get a z400 or yfz instead of 400ex. they have more power and are just as reliable.

My freind has a Z and I don't see that big of a difference in riding the two. I bought the ex for my wife and like the body style much better than the Z. I think I'll buy a 400ex for myself later this year because I really like the option of having reverse. Whereas with the 450R you don't. For woods riding like we do I havent noticed that much of a difference between the 450/400. With a couple mods they ride about the same. But having reverse is a big help on some of the trails we ride.

I won't argue that a Z400 isn't faster than my 400, but it's not a huge difference. We have about 8 guy's that ride together on a regular basis and we all run pretty even when we're having fun. Sure, the warriors lag a little, but the Suzie and the honda's run real close. Matter of fact my friend with the z400 bitches about not being able to keep the front end down in certain situations, and when it comes down to drag racing, he might get me then the next time I get him. I like my Honda 400. One less fluid to check. The suzuki whip's it up a little quicker, but it's not any faster and what if you're in the middle of nowhere and run out of water. Air cooled is the way to go in my opinion.

Z owners have absolutely no reason to dis a 400EX and they sure as hell aren't in the same class as either 450..........
