450R kick start
#11
These are all basically new bikes that kick start very easy. My question is this, "after several years on the motor when the compression is not like new will they still start right up?" That is if 4 strokes loose compression at all.
Thanks.
Thanks.

When I was chilling at bottom of dumont comp I looked over and saw a 450R next to me kicking for at least 20 secs, he kicked after kicked. Then I pressed my little button on my YFZ and went up the hill lol. I could get a kicker for my YFZ and drop 15lbs, or use as a backup, still thinking.

They start easy as long as you do the following.
1. NEVER touch the throttle while it's not running.
2. When the motor is hot, use the hotstart button, it shuts the fuel pump accelerator off so it keeps it lean and doesn't flood.
3. Use the choke when it's cold.
It really is super easy to start as long as you understand those things. 1st kick every time. Even when it's cold, 2, 3 tops and it starts. I even have the more aggressive HRC cam (it does still have a decompressor and when it's warm I don't even have to get off the seat to start it. I just kick it while sitting down.
IMO it'd ruin the R to put a non-reliable electric start on it with a heavy battery that needs to be replaced at least once a year if you really ride the thing.
