Default dumb insurance question

My insurance is through hagerty on this car and it cost's me a tottal of $198.00 a year. This is of much more value and can cause much more damage than an atv. These companys really dont want to cover atv's so they charge way to much. It's just dumb to pay more a year for insurance on my $3,400 atv then it is on a $15,000 street rod.
I also have coverage through Hagerty. There are specific reasons why that insurance is so cheap:
1. The cars they insure are usually high dollar cars or cars with an understood high value.
2. They dont expect people to drive the cars every day and park next to Billy Bob in the parking lot.
3. They know people with these cars are more apt to care for them and do anything to avoid putting the car in danger.

Now with that in mind think of the way most ATV's are treated.

JCDC, Coyoteman,

You may think it is wroing to cheat the insurance companies and it may in fact be fraud. Most of the time it is not though. One question, HOW MANY TIMES HAS THE INSURANCE COMPANIES SCREWED YOU??? How about evrytime some natural disaster takes place and everyone in America is forced to help make the money bcak that the insurance companies paid out to the homeowners that actually suffered a loss.

It is alright for the insurance companies to screw us but the insurance companies can't get screwed, I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!!

And every time they do get screwed, they raise my rate.

All 3 of my quads have full insurance (theft/liability/comp/prop) and for all 3 it runs under 500 per year. They are only insured for the market value. After having someone try to steal 2 of my quads, you can't tell me insurance isn't worth it.

Well, I had three atv's and a trailer stolen this past summer and had to deal with my insurance claims adjuster. Three problems developed concerning my settlement.

First, I got stuck with three deductibles instead of one. I bought each atv at different times and the agent put them on different policies. I should have asked why. That won't happen again.

Second, I didn't think I got paid what I thought they were worth. Now, you may think I got screwed on my settlement, but I didn't look at it that way. They used the higher of the Kelly Blue book value, or another used vehicle appraisal service, or a local appraisal of my machine dated 4 - 6 weeks prior to the loss. My beef was that my machines were low mileage, cherry machines that were worth more than book value. Isn't that the way we all think of our machines. If I had traded it in to my dealer, I bet I would have gotten less than book value. So do you think of your dealer that way also?

Third, I disagreed with an item they didn't pay me for that I thought I should be paid for. It's complicated so I won't get into the details. It was addressed in the policy fine print. I still disagree with their position but it was in my policy. So did I get screwed? It was my fault that I didn't read the fine print. I could have shopped at a different insurance company.

So in the end, I was paid about $1,500 less than I expected - $500 in too many deductibles, $200 fine print item, $500 in what I thought they were worth. But in reply to the original thread question, those $100 premiums on my ATV's did pay over $9,000 to help replace my loss. If it wasn't for the insurance, I probably wouldn't be riding now.

Everytime someone cheats the insurance companies, we all pay for it through the increase in rates. It is in fact fraud, also known as stealing, so yes I do think it is wrong to cheat insurance companies.

Default dumb insurance question

I just called my insurance company and they told me our homeowners would cover a loss due to theft or fire. They also quoted me $170 a year for full coverage. I might just go ahead and get full coverage.

Save your money, I hate insurance. The only reason I get it is because I have to for my car when I had a loan. Once I had it paid for within 2 years. Mind you new vehicle the full coverage was gone. I feel that it is a money maker. Be responsible. Don't leave your garage unlocked. Don't park in places that make it easy to steal. Be a little mindful when on the trail for your bikes care and other riders. In other words: USE COMMON SENSE. And get a gun, to shoot the bastard off your bike as he's rolling it out of your garage.
