Default ex 400 cam selection... HELP

For your application I would go with the 450/451 grind webcam or the tc gncc 926 grind cam.

The 450/451 is more of a bottom end cam than the 479 cam. But the 479 is a good all around cam has a little less duration than the 450/451 but has more lift.
Webcams 463/9i grind cam is there top end monster. More valve lift and a lot more duration. But it would be as useful as a poppy flavored lollypop in Donex400's case.

Anyhow, he is recomending that I get the Xr400 cam over either of the hot cams. his reason is that the hot cams dont have "decompression" like the honda cams do.
anyone have any thoughts? any experiences? I would like to hear how the XR400 cam works VS a hot cam stage I and stage II.
Thank you in advance.
Don
Don,

The 440 does run hotter, but since I've put in the larger oil tank/cooler, I've had no head related problems. I have had no problems with the stock head studs - if they torque them correctly, neither will you. This is what I have in my 440EX ...

My cams specs are: Lift = .378, Duration = 274 Degrees. (web 479 Grind)

I also have the following motor mods:

1) Shortened valve guides.
2) Hardweld Rockers.
3) JE 13:1 Piston.
4) Web 1mm over size valves.
5) Head Porting.
6) White Bros CDI.
7) LTE Dual Exhaust.
8) Web Performance Valve Springs.
9) Ace Large Capacity Oil Tank/ Cooler
10) A larger battery to crank her over without the need for a compression release on the cam
11) Light flywheel

I've been racing the 440 with the 13:1 on the stock studs, & stock rod for a year - no problems.
