Yeah it sucked! I had just bought this motor from CFM Performance, they were selling it on ebay. I had like 20 minutes on the engine, and thru the rod. It busted a hole about the size of a tennis ball in the bottom of the engine, ruining both halves of the cases and busted up a bunch of gears. Anyway, after doing alittle checking on some of the engine builder sites, most of them highly recommend putting in a race rod if you are going to a big bore and higher compression. So I bought the carillo rod from sparks racing. I think they call it something else like spark race rod or something, but the guy that built my engine ( Rick Ritter ) said it is a carillo.

Well I thought about that... I mean the ebay thing and getting junk. But I dont see how a person would know that an engine was about to throw a rod. That engine was supposedly built by CT Racing. But who knows, it could be that the bore was out. But if you are doing an engine and you can afford it, I would recommend putting a heavier rod in. There is quite a bit of difference between the stock and carillo and it takes out that variable.

..I dunno,i think it is the rod..looking at it is nothing, the rod streachs then breaks..go with Falicon, or carillo rod..But if it is how the boreing is done,id like to know how or what is done wrong to break the rod?..I think anything over 10.1 stock or 440 and it should be fine..
..Other thing to keep in mind is clutch basket..they will blow..this i know...2 hour drive to dunes 15 min's ride basket blows... back 2 hour drive home..sucked..
