Default 250 EX or Not?

Hey guys I need some help on buying my 9 yr old sons first ATV. He is a tall boy standing at 5'4" and is around 70 lbs. I want to buy him a reliable bike, as well as a bike that is easy to maintain. I just got my girl a Z400 so I have been looking alot at the Z250. I haven't heard anything bad about the bike, but I remember my first bike being a Honda and remember the abuse that that bike could take. Since I have moved on and haven't owned a Honda product in about 10 yrs, so I was hoping that some of you owners out there could let me know the pro's and con's to the bike. I thank you guys in advance for taking the time to loan me some advice. By the way we live in Florida and the bike will mostly be used on trails, and the every know and then mud hole.

It will fit him perfect, it's an auto-clutch so it's really easy to ride. As for realibility, honda it's always been realiable, it's a good beginers quad, I would prefer it over the Z250.

My son is about that same size, except he is 11. He has enough height to reach the controls, etc., but not enough weight to control the machine. So, he is going to have to stay cramped on his 90 for a while longer. He has fun on the 90 anyway, because he can toss it around like a little toy.

The 250EX is a superb little bike! One of the magazines called it as near perfect as a machine can get.

Default 250 EX or Not?

My son has only ridden a Yamaha Big Bear that we would only let him use 2nd gear in. And he only rode it one time. I'm not really worried about the size of the bike as much as I am about making the right choice with getting him a bike that will last him for years.

Thanks for the reply's I didn't see the post ahead of mine that was basically asking the same questions.

Go w/ the 250EX its most likely a much more reliable bike and its better than the Z, it doesnt look at good but that doesnt matter as much when it comes to performance. I had a 250 and it was very reliable. They dont like the cold weather though.
