I recently made the move from motocross to a 400EX and have *lots* of BelRay 85W crankcase oil left that I had been using in a CR250. Does anyone use(or know if you can) this oil in a 400EX(or other 4 stroke?)? BelRay indicates that it's 'specially' formulated for 2 strokes, but does that mean it should not be used in 4 stroke applications?

I certainly don't want to risk any harm, especially for the little cost of the oil. I've always had good luck with this in my CR250, and thought someone out there might have some experience using this in a 400EX. I'd also appreciate any suggestions on what to use as well(ie. synthetic vs. non).

Thanks for the input...
David.

Don't use that oil in your 400EX, most 4 stroke motorcycle engines (including the 400EX) share their cylinder and rotating assembly lube with the transmission. In your CR250, it was transmission lube only. That oil is much to heavy for engine oil....

Personally I use Mobil1 15w50 synthetic. If you search, I have posted a ton of info on this subject...
