2005 RUBICON OR VINSON?????????

Frankly, if you're trying to decide between the Rubi, and a Suzuki, you should be looking at the King Quad. It's the same price, but offers a LOT more. Bigger motor, IRS, and EFI, to name a few. While I dearly love my '01 Rubi, I'm thinking it's time to upgrade. I've been diehard Honda for a long time, but lately, it just seems like Honda is dropping the ball. The manufacturers all know what we want in an ATV, but Honda refuses to comply. They just keep falling further and further behind. I'm looking elsewhere now, and the King Quad looks pretty darned good. It's received nothing but good reviews. Maybe...if Honda gets their head out of their butt...and puts something worth looking at out this Spring, I'll change my mind.

I too have been between the Vinson and the Rubicon. I want an SRA for personal reasons(too old school and can't get used to body roll in corners). Wife wants an auto so these are the 2 choices in the 500 cc range for me.
I have never owned anything but Honda Atv's in the past, but can't get used to an electrically controlled trans in a quad. I believe that Rubicon trans has 6 sensors and an ecu controlling it. I find very few negative comments about the mechanical operation of the Rubicon, but several posts on the electronics.
I have been lurking(never posted)on this site and Highlifter for the last month and there are some diehard Rubi and Vinson owners, which is great. It just makes the decision harder.
I personally am leaning towards Vinson for the following reasons:
Simple trans(I don't u-boat my atvs so a slipping belt is a minor concern).
More trail friendly suspension from what dealers and owners of both tell me.
Bigger racks(that Rubicon rear rack is rather small imo). I do a lot of hunting and need rack space.
.8 gallon bigger fuel tank. I do long rides and a cup full of fuel can make a diff.
I also hear that the Vinson in Low has some serious grunt as does the Rubi. Tough decisions these days.
Sorry for long first post--but this thread is important to me right now.

PHSNTHUNTER,
Ride both and see which one suits you. If Honda didn't put the trax-lox on the Rubi this year, then I probably would have leaned toward the Vinson myself (although I am a Honda fan). A friend of mine has two of them and they are awesome in their own right. I am sure whichever you choose, it will suit you for whatever you need it to do. His Vinson is fast, but I don't know the top speed of my 05 Rubi as I haven't broken it in yet (only has 16 miles on it right now) and I only have 1 acre of woods. So, until it warms up and I can take it to an off-road park in Missouri, I can't comment on top speed.
Anyway, good luck with your choice. I am sure you will be happy with either Rubi or Vinny.

Specta, I just picked-up my '05 Rubicon (green) today. After reading everything in the book and doing the seach here I'm just not getting the mechanical/actual difference(s) between D1 and D2. Can you shed any insight for me? Thanks in advance.

You know i was looking at the foreman 500 4x4 es but was hearing that it didnt have much power. I love hondas simplicity and workmanship. But i need the power. I was looking at the eiger also but it feels a little small. It also haas 18 HP it looks like. I dont really want to spend the extra money for a rubicon. Maybe u guys could help me out.
