I lcurrently live in sunny Spain and wnated to upgrade my sons ATV. All the local spanish kids have quads
that sound great and really tear it up. What can I do myself (not real mechanically inclined) to power up his quad? I was thinking a new pipe (like FMF?) and a K&N filter. Also, I know nothing about exhaust systems on quads sp please don't be to vague? Thanks for your help. Bobby

I'm not great with four strokes, but I know on some 2-stroke atv fmf is close to stock. Also k&n would be good I seen some k&n kits for 4-stroke atvs i'll have a look around and get back to you. Also some extra air vents would help if you put on any mods as more power the quad gets the more air it needs thats what i think anyway. But if you are going to put a lot of money into the atv you may be better off upgrading to a bigger cc atv. Is your son an experienced/agressive rider.

A 250ex is a great beginners quad, and there is may aftermarket upgraded for it. I would start out with a pipe White Bro e-series is a nice system that runs about $215, also the DMC alien pipe is good that cost about $358 but it well worth it. I like the Dg xcclerator pipe the best and you gain great power across the whole board, that pipe runs about $270 great power in that pipe. I would also say get a jet kit k&n is a good choice at $44 if you get a full exhaust system and a k&n airfilter is a good choice too. Also twin air is great as well i have that in my quad and love it. I would also say get some tires to like (razr/holeshots) you'll see major improvment with them. You should have no problem putting these parts on yourself, and they will help out a lot.

We have an FMF MegaMaxII, UNI air filter (don't trust K&N!), and vented airbox lid (with a couple of those 1" round UNI vents) on our 250EX and Recon. Perks the little machines up quite a bit! You will need to rejet.
The thing the EX needs even more is tires. Those balooney stock tires make the bike a little tippy and it pushes pretty bad in turns. I like Holeshot XC's on ITP rims. Makes the bike 3" wider in back and 2" in front. Cures botht he tippiness and pushing real nice.

Okay been doing a bit of research, a mate told me fmf pipes aren't bad or yoshi are good pipes too. Get a k&n filter and jet the carb (best get a mechanic to do that it can be tricky, I know i can't do it anyway) Also what year is it. To look at some parts go here www.rockymountainatv.com and enter the details of you'r quad and you can have a look at different parts for you'r bike. Also have you got nerf bars cause if you are rriding with a lot of others it might be a good idea as in the the case of an accident they might just save his legs. what part of spain are in I was in gran canaria before and a friends got a villa out there some where.

SOUnds great. I just ordered a FMFII exhaust and a K&N filter system for my oldest sonds 250 and a FMF
Power COre IV for my youngest sons 90. I will look at getting the 250 jetted and some new tires
on the next round of purchases. I will post some pics of the quads around here. The spanish kids go ALL OUT on their ride. They actually ride them in the roads adn to school. Their favorite is the Spanish made GasGas
quad and Banshees. I am currentli in Rota, Spain, on the Atlantic side of Spain.
