hi my buddie just got his TRX 300 utility back together about 3 weeks ago, anyways i notaced when we were riding down the road the head pipe was glowing cherry red , is this a problem ? Will it be ok if it keeps doing this ?

running lean/hot

I had the same thing happen. we were riding at night at about -10 degrees and we stopped and noticed the header pipe was glowing on my prarie 650. My dads foreman 450 and cousins rancher were glowing even brighter. We figured because it was so cold they were just running lean. Checked with the dealer and he said it was normal because most of those pipes are made of stainless steel which I guess glows red most of the time. So i wouldnt worry about it too much.

 

depends on how lean it is

i would say no,,,,,,too lean of a condition will cook an engine
