Just wanted to know how the 400ex rides on tight trails and wooded areas. Also what are the things that you feel need upgrading first(skid plated, exhaust, lights ect.) Thanks!

The 400ex does fine on the tight trails and wooded areas. You may want to replace the factory skid plate with a more durable aftermarket one. Also, you may want to loose 1 tooth on the front sprocket.

Handling is great in that terrain! The first thing to replace is the handlebars. The stock ones are very weak. A good exhaust and air filter with the proper jetting will really bring it to life.

The best rail riders in the world win on 400exs. They excellent 4 strokes for any terrain. My is setup for sand/MX and it still does good in the trails where I live.

My son normally races XC on a modified 250R, but last Sunday when we got to the track, the 250R had a problem that we couldn't fix on the spot. He rode a friend's, bone-stock 400EX and WON! He was up against other 300 & 400EX's, and Banshee's. Once he learned how to keep the front wheels down, he said it handled excellent!
