450R Dumont Performance
I rode Dumont this last weekend with my Trinity 440EX with aftermarket carburetor. Here are some results. Beat various 450R's that were stock, end cap removed and re-jetted, Big Gun Pipe, and other after-market exhausts. Some 450R's beat me, but less than half. There was 1-450R that was beating everyone. Beat various piped Raptors, some Predators, however I did get beat by some of those with modifications unknown. I stayed close, 2-3 bike lengths with DS650's. I beat like 4 YFZ's stock and piped, but the majority of the machines destroyed me. Beat some Banshees. There were a ton of 450R's there which surprised me. One of the funniest things on the week-end was when a guy on a piped 450R called me out----but he would only race me if we started half-way up the hill, past the whoops. A hill without whoops, what a joke!! Needless to say I beat him, when I started at the base of the hill and he started half-way up the hill. I was thinking about purchasing a 450R, but many seemed to have difficulty navigating the whoops and their power output was not much more than the 400EX. I ride mostly track and some dunes. Any input?

I have to say that you must have been dreaming. I have a 400EX and a 450R and the 400EX cannot even begin to come close to the power of the 450R.
The 450R also handles whoops extremely well if you have the suspension dialed in for that kind of riding and your weight.
Ihave a friend who has a 440EX (soon to be a 450EX) and he also has a 450R. His 440EX cannot even touch the 450R.
Like I said, you must have been dreaming or smokin' some really good stuff!

The weakest part of the 450R is the rear suspension. It isn't valved as well as it could be. The rebound is way to fast, even set on full slow. So, I can really believe that R riders were getting bucked in the whoops. Usually in sand drags, it is the best whoop bike that takes the first part, then the fastest bike that gets the rest.
At Glamis a couple of weeks ago, there was a 450R beating EVERYTHING. I didn't get a chance to talk to him about his mods, so who knows what he was running.

Are you guys reading before the responses?? He has a 440 ex with other aftermarket mods, And im sure he is not fibbing or yanking your chains. How about you all come to Dumont pres. Day and lets see what ya got. Bring your Z's and 450r's. There will also be a z440 (buldogz440) fresh out of my mechanics shop that will be doing some serious damage. Bring it on girls!!!!!!!!!

Annihilater, did you read all of his post? I highly doubt he beat him starting halfway up the hill on his 440, your DS, yeah maybe!! Not saying a 440 couldn't do it because I know there are some fast ones out there but I don't think his is. If his was that fast he wouldn't have lost as much as he did. He also says not much more power than a 400EX, not 440. There aren't gonna be too many stock bore 400 anythings out there that compare power to any of the 450 and higher machines. I'm sure he won some and lost some just like he says, but the other stuff is BS. Maybe we read into it differently then you do. Not bashin' just pointing out a few things.......

Yes your right, I think he came off wrong about referring to a 400ex power in stock form wich is very weak. A stock 400ex doesnt make much power IMO. I used to have one, it was a dog. I know stoic personally thats why I take his word for it. He has never been one to tell tall tales. Ive rode his 440 and it is totally different than the stock piped 400ex. There is only one way to find out. We all need to meet up at Dumont, My new motor wont be ready till Pres day, POSSIBLY Easter, But I will be out there riding some kind of bike at the hill, hopefully mine.
