Default TRX 70 HELP!!!!!!

I have an 86 TRX 70 that wouldnt shift gears, I pulled the side cover off and found that the arm coming from the shift shaft up to the clutch (honda part number 24430-HB2-000) I replaced that arm and now the bike is really hard to shift into gear and when you get it in gear, It takes off!!! I have tried adjusting the clutch out and but I cannot still cannot get this thing to work right, Is there something that I could have misaligned?? Someone Help please I know I cant be the only one that has had this problem before....
Thanks
Lomax
