Hey guys need some help from you Honda guys. I have a oppertunity to buy a '02 Honda Trx 250 for $1500. It has extended "2 a-arms, Yoshi pipe, 330 bore kit, Elka front's, and a Elka rear. I know that it seems obvious, but I am buying it for my 10 yr old son, who has not ridden a whole lot. I am a Police Officer so I ran the Vin and know that it is not stolen, the guy that I am buying it from is really trying to buy some new parts for his race bike. I am just not really sure about the kick start and the power of the bike. For you guys that own them my son is 10 but is 5'7" and weights around 100 lbs. He can probably handle the bike, but the 330 kit bothers me a little bit. The owner says that it is just the Cylinder and piston and is a dependable motor. I am looking for a quad that is dependable and requires little maintainance. I do not want to have to tear this thing apart every month to keep it running. He told me that the bike is totally dependable and is really solid, and it looks to be, but I really wanted to hear from you Honda guys that know.

They didnt make a 250x in 2002. They made a 250ex in 2002 and that is a shaft drive, semi-auto clutch. I think that the 250x's last year made was 92, and then in 93 the 300ex came out.

 

Yeah the last year of the 250x is 92. I dont know how it could be a 330 big bore since they dont make a big bore kit that big for the 250x engine. That is for the 300ex. Sounds like a good deal though as long as it runs solid. ITs basicly the same thing as 300ex but if its got a big bore kit in it and other motor mods itll easily beat a stock 300ex in a drag race and out power it. Oh yeah those elka shocks cost almost as much as what he wants for the quad. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Powrolls 330 kit for the 300 is a 313 for the 250x.

POWROLL.COM check it out. I do have a hard time on the story about this quad. If there isn't papers on the engine work I wouldn't buy it. Anyone can say they have a 500cc 400ex.

 

1500 sounds a little to cheap for this quad.... Id check everything over before you buy it. Plus they didnt make a 02 250x... Maybe its a 250ex. They stopped making them back in 92 the year before they came out with the 300ex. But if everything is Ok on this quad id get it for sure. Have fun!

 

FST makes a 288cc big bore kit for the 250X, but they also make a bigbore/stroker combo that makes 390cc's

 

You guys have me worried now. When I talked to him he said that it was a Honda 250X. He also said that it is a kickstart? I ain't about to lie I don't know anything about Honda bikes. It could be a ex, or a x, or anything else that Honda makes and I really would not know. I am going to go look at it tomorrow and then I will know for sure. I could have gotten the year wrong I was in a bit of a hurry when he was explaining it to me. The seller works at the local shop where I get all of my work done on all of my quads. I do trust him, but I may have given some bad information. I will let you guys know tomorrow when I see it.

 

kickstarter....hmmmmm yeah it's a 250X alrite, but not no 02, honda didn't make a kickstarter quad in 02, the 450R is the 1st kickstarted quad Honda made since the ending of the 250X....it's got to be a 92, i was going to say 250R, but can't be cause a Yosh pipe is a 4stroke pipe, so no it can't be, and besides a 250R would most likely be way too quick for someone that is only 10yrs old and 100 pounds.
