On a mildly built 416EX the 450R carb showed a 4hp increase. Here are the dyno's:

416EX Dyno's

I just installed a 450R carb on my 416EX today, but I'm waiting for the cable to arrive from servicehonda tomorrow. I ran it today and it sounds and revs really good.

You are welcome. A 440EX creeping up on 04's and 05's is a lot of fun. I seem to always be putting my 440EX on the grab bar in the garage and one thing I have noticed with the carb is that it never leaks any fuel out. The performance at the track where I ride most of the time is great. I would put this carb on a slightly modified 400ex as well as a big bore. I know one guy who has the carb on a stock bore and likes the performance. The only dyno numbers I have access to are the one's Khen posted. FCR what? Enjoy the upgrade!!

I just put mine all back together with the carb and all I can say is HOLY SH*t!! Unfortunatly I couldn't ride it to fast because there's sheet ice everywhere and I also didn't what to anger the neighbors.. But talking about your throttle response! That thing revs out fast!

the fcr's have much much greater throttle response than the stock carb. the short throw of the throttle lever is what makes it this way. the fcr40's don't have as short throw on the lever as the 39's and 41's but is still much greater than stock. i also believe the lever is easier to push in vs the stock one too, but maybe that is just because the throw is shorter. i have never ridden a 450r so i can't comment on that that carb. however, i know an upgrade on that bike is putting a fcr40mm carb on over that stock one.

I called the local Honda dealer, they didn't think this carb. would work on the 400ex due to the throttle positioning sensor on the 450r carb, how would I get around that? I would like to install this carb if it would work

The only thing that needs the TPS is the CDI. Your CDI does not havet a 3d timing curve. You just do not hook it up.
It is a great carb for a Predator, Z400, 400ex, and I imagine a DS as well. Those vacuum carbs are junk IMO.

yes, i run a fcr40mm on my 400ex and this carb has a throttle positioning sensor and a hot start but i just didn't hook either of them up.

very impressive dyno numbers khen. I am looking to build a sleeper 400 myself. By not plugging those extra sensors up, what does it do? does it hurt the performance or reliability in anyway?
