Well, we went riding yesterday at the Logandale Trail System a little ways from Vegas. Lots of sand and cool scenery. Since I installed my Warn 424 Select I've been loving the sand and yesterday was killer! Lots of roosts from my Rancher. Those videos are on my website....the ones with NEW buy them. Now I know Ranchers aren't really jumping machines but I'll do it a bit. So I hit this little jump totally wrong and landed really wrong and when I did, I bashed my windpipe on the handbar or throttle and it hurt! Not so bad right then, but a minute later I was in serious pain and could hardly breathe. I laid on the sand for a bit and finally was able to get up and ride. Today is a different story....throat hurts pretty bad, especially when I swallow. My right shoulder is bruised up pretty good and sore as hell too! So, at my age(44) I've decided to put a TRX400 or 450r on the back burner. I think I'd end up hurting myself really bad on one and I made a deal with the boss (wife), that I wouldn't get the sport quad if I could get rims + tires and an new pipe for my Rancher, she agreed and we're both happy now.....except for the pain

Here's the video.

na the problem is the rancher, not the rider, i rode my 02 4x4 rancher over a jump and almost killed myself when it came down, the front end on the bike is extremly heavy, this ruins all type of jumping, i later rode a kfx over the same jump and the bike landed beatifully, it seems to me the front on the rancher is heaver then the back, cus my buddy 4x2 rancher doesn't have the problem my 4x4 has, i believe because of the different driveshafts and winch i have installed makes it far too heavy

Actually, for that kind or terrain I think you would be safer on the 400EX. But you might wind up needing two to satisfy the boss once she tries yours.

At your age?
You're only 44, I bought my 450R a year ago and I'm 47!
You wouldn't have landed wrong on a 400EX or 450R, IMO.
I love to jump and the 450r and 400ex handle great in the air and can soak up bad landings, especialy the 450r. Tell the boss you have reconsidered and realize you willbe safer on a 400ex or better yet, a 450R.
