Rubicon: Utility only?
#1
I own a Prairie 700, and really ride it like a sport quad most of the time (blazing through creekbeds and smooth trails at high speed). Is the Rubicon at all sporty in 2wd? Or is it more of a workhorse? I am thinking of getting away from belt driven atvs.

i have a 04 rubicon and going from my 700 to my 500 i can realy feel the differance in power.
the honda is a great quad but it isant even close in the power department.
but it is a great trail quad and im sure the 05s with 2 and 4 wheel drive will be that much more fun.
and its alot easyer to ride then the kawi and your not tired when you get home from riding.
it will do everything the 700 does but no as fast.
if speed and power are not a concern im sure you will like the honda.
its a great trail quad very stable and predictable.
i wouldent trade my honda for nothing.
since i got the kawi 4 weeks ago i havent road nothing else, but the kawi is still new to me and the novelty hasent wore off yet.
but i still love my honda.

I have an 05 Rubicon with stock tires it will do 61 mph on flat ground(esp). The two wheel drive makes it so much more fun. Now I ride with a prairie 700 and 750 the guy on the 700 don't really raise hell on his but you can still tell the power it's got it will raise the front very easy. The 750 will leave me far behind on take off and speed but in the mud I can say the Rubicon is a little better I can put it in low ESP (were I control shift points) and just rip throw mud holes. The prairie has a locker but there ant a lot of difference (Honda did something new in 05)Now the Rancher would make me so mad one wheel would get in the air and just spin why the tire on the ground would do nothing but the 05 Rubicon don't do this. Please note we both have mud tire's but mine are an inch bigger and that make's a big difference.
To be honest when were blazing down the trail they all seem the same Yamaha Grizzly 660 ,Polaris 500, prairie 700,750.Suzuki 700.Honda Forman 450 I've never herd no one complain they don't like the ride of there quad flying down the trail at 40 or 50 nothing but big smiles from everybody It does seems like every body wants independent suspension but I don't to unstable for playing on hills. I'm sure you will miss that get up and go of the prairie but you will be very happy with the Rubicon and 10 years down the road you'll still be saying what a machine you'll also will only have money in oil and what part's you brake from acting dumb in that 10 years I can't say that for any other brand that I have owned.

I don't know if the extra few CC's would make that much difference, but my 500 Foreman S 4x4 will run 58 on flat ground (according to the speedo). My 94 300 4x4 will only run 48 (downhill, 46-47 on flat) with 25" tires.
