I have a 250 r and wanted to know if paddle tires would be good for winter, I was thinking of getting the one with knobbies downthe middle so they would last me. Has anyone tried this will they rip or break off if I hit hardpack or ice? Please reply

Don't bother to get paddles at all unless you are going to run them in the sand. You could very easily chew off most of your paddles in a day. They are usually also thinner and more prone to puncture. I have run them in snow before and frankly they sucked! The ones with tread down the middle won't be of much help in keeping you from chewing them up on hard pack.

I used 22" imatation whooly boogers on my R with ice screws, they worked great in the snow and on the ice.

chains all you need are chains. I put them on my 250r last winter there wasent a damed thing i couldnt climb. two feet of powder no problem, go to your neareeest industrial/auto suplier and but 3/8 cleated chain cut to lenght you wont regret it. unless you get your leg chewed off!
