Default 2000 350 rancher es choke problems.

I just bought a 2000 model rancher 350es and it seems that the choke is stuck. Whenever I start it the thing idles high and when I push or pull the choke **** it has no effect. What do I need to remove to get to fix this problem, (re: gas tank, plastics, etc....)

It's been a while since I had my choke apart, but here goes: Trace the choke cable to the carb. Undo the retaining nut. There should be a plunger that slides out of the carb that the cable slides into. If it doesn't move up and down with the cable, there's your problem. You may have to recrimp it with needle nose pliers.

Hey buteaud

I have the same year and modelyou have. its really not hard to replace the choke cable. What most likely has happened is the water has gotten into the cable and rusted and froze in the half choke position.

What I did was removed enough covers to get to the carb unhook it from there and in its wire clips and clean up the Valve set that is the piece the cable connects too to control the choke at the carb. If its shows signs of ware the replacement is about $40.

A service manual really shows you what to do well.

Mike
