Default 400ex choke issues

when i first go to fire up my 2002 400ex, it starts no problem, but i cant let it idle with the choke on, with out it stalling. I have to give it minimal gas for about 45-60 seconds, to keep it running, and then turn the choke off, and it'll idol with out the choke on aftera bout a min. or two. of light throttle. Does any one else have this same problem? -- is it suppose to idle nicely with the choke on? i know my friends kfx idols for like 4 min. on the choke with out stalling, and my friends predator, the same thing, as well as the rest of my friends quads? i do need to rebuild the top end on it, could this have anything to do with it, at all? -- any suggestions or words of wisdom would be appreciated.. thanks

so theres no way to fix this, and be able to just flip the choke on, hit the button and let it fire like most other quads do?

Sounds like you WANT it to idle with the choke on? Why? Just put a 42 pilot and pump the gas 2-3 times before starting it.

correct, i do want it to idle with the choke on, for a min. or two --- like my friends quads, so that i can oil the chain or put gas in it while she's warming up.

Heres my 2004 400ex start : sit on bike, key on, pump gas 25 times (usually 13-25 times!) hit start button, engine fires, FEATHER gas lightly for 60seconds, half choke, blipping lightly on throttle, sit there and do this for a good while....if done in this same method all of your friends will think you really know what your doing!
Ride off..............
True story. 400ex are cold natured lil buggers!

Here's my 400ex starting procedure for Iowa winters. Put on full choke, push starter button, put on half choke and let it idle for a few minutes and drive away....mine must broken. lol..
