Default Listing Price on OLD Rubicon

I currently have a little bit over 5,700 miles on the old Rubi. It's been very good to me, but I'm starting to think that maybe I should put her out to pasture and obtain a new toy. It runs great. Doesn't look as good as it works obviously, but doesn't look terrible at all either. Just the usual faded, scratched plastic and racks. Looks like a quad with 5,700 miles for lack of a better explanation. If this is ludicrous, please tell me so nicely, but with the mods I've installed since I got it (listed in my sig), do you think it's legit to list $3700 as the ASKING price in the trader? I appreciate any and all input......

Maybe. But tell what you do before you sell it. Jack it up, pull all the wheels, clean it REAL good. All the black parts wash with a rag and dry. Racks and everything. Gunk it down if you have oil, etc on it. Try a little oven cleaner on the cases and some steel wool. Polish up the wheels real good. Basically a complete detail. But before you put the wheels back on, get some black spray paint and spot paint the black parts. use a rag or towel to control the overspray. It'll really help the looks. Don't worry about the underside of the parts, your only concerned with what shows. Armor All the plastic and tires. It'll still show 5700 miles but look like a well cared for ATV (maybe it is but now it'll look it). I go through mine this way at least once a year. Yeah it'll get muddy in no time but it sure looks nice for the week or so. I'm doing this on my KQ now. But I also go through the brakes, wheel bearings and such.

Good Luck with the sale,
Rob

That's a good idea, I was probably going to do something like that anyway, but you had some good cleanup tips of which I was unaware. Thanks. Does anyone else have any idea on the price if I spiffed it up real good as well?

Red...check the link below to give you an idea. I've got the KQ in for the spring overhaul. Pulling drums, greasing, etc. Here is the front shot of the paint. I've been using a satin paint lately. The flash actually highlight all the nicks. Standing next to it in the daylight it looks nice. I'm working on the rear this long weekend. Then back up to the country for another year of fun.

Rob

Front paint.

If anyone who has a good idea can donate 2 cents to this, we won't ever have to see this topic again. This is the first time I've never gotten help on any question I've asked on this forum.

Ok I'm back to try and end it...

Go to Edmunds.com or NADA.com and check the values they give there. I bought my 2002 Rancher for $3100 a year ago. Maybe that'll help. It was in ok exterior condition but when I tore it down it had been rode hard and put up wet. Nothing I had to replace, just the care and such. It also had new dirt hooks, and a new front bumper. Later noticed a bend front rim I had to replace so it had been smashed at one time. Still everything else ok.

Also factor in how fast you want to sell it. If you want top dollar it'll take longer. When I'm ready to sell I'm ready to sell. move it and move on.

Good Luck,
Rob

I just thought I would let you know that I just bought my 01 Rubi a few weeks ago from my local honda dealers and paid $3700 tax and all. It had 975 miles on it and no major wear and tear. (It has not been flipped, etc.). I'm not at all saying that you are asking to much, I believe you get as much as somebody is willing to spend. I just thought this might help.

I just purchased a '03 Rubi' for $4700 US with 700 miles on it. It was full of Muskeg and mud, but it all came off with some elbow grease from me and my son. It also has a Kimpex rear seat/ carrier, fender guards/ passenger footpegs, Winch, '05 rims and tires, front roll bar etc;
I used spray silicone first on the plastic, then rubbed it out with McGuires plastic polish...
I have every respect for spray silicone lube.... It works magic on plastic and rubber!!!!!!!!!!!

Just bought an 03 rubicon (700 miles) with 27" ITP 589's, ITP C-Series rims, 2" lift, and brand new Warn 2.5K winch for $4000. It did have some small cosmetic issues: missing cover to pull start, missing rear tail light, and cracked front plastic bumper cover.
