Default 05 Rincon Overheat question

I just got my new Rincon 650 and took it home to play. Not ten minutes after running it, the oil/overheat light comes on. I've checked oil, water, etc and all is good. Is this something someone has seen or heard of? Should I stop riding it and take it for service or may I safely ignore this warning light?

When I called the Honda dealer where I bought it, they said they had heard of one other 05 Rincon with that problem and it was a bent pin in the wiring harness. Thing is, I have no way of transporting this thing back to the dealer. I had to jump thru hoops to get it there...

Any help or input would be appreciated.

Cliff

Don't ignore the warning light ! A common problem that causes this is a dirty radiator. It's difficult to clean the front and back of the radiator on the Rincon.

I recommend you join the forum below and post your problem. You'll get lot's of help. Search on temp light, overheating and you'll get info also.

Default 05 Rincon Overheat question

Remove the cowl ahead of the handlebars. The cowl that pops onto the front fender and must be removed to access the radiator cap.
There is a rubber dust flap that covers the top of the fan. Check if it has dropped down and tangled in the fan blade. If it has, many times it can carefully removed fom the fan and reinstalled correctly so it will not cause the problem again. Then remove the seat and check if the fan fuse is good. Replace it with the spare if blown.
I've seen it a few times on these units.
