Question about 250R...?
#1
OK... This guy at work has a 1984 250R 3-wheeler and he said if I went to his house with my truck that he would just give it to me... it is just the engine and frame... The question is " Is the 3 wheeler engine the same as the 4 wheeler engine... Cause if it is I want to buy a TRX 250R Frame and turn it into a quad... Please let me know ASAP!!

You are correct. If it is an '84, it is aircooled and really not worth transplanting into the TRX frame. If it is water cooled, it will bolt right in to any ATC or TRX frame from '85-'89. You might as well go look at it to make sure what he's giving away.

Yeah, I agree - it wouldn't be worth the cash it would take to put an air cooled '84 250R engine into a Fourtrax frame. But hey, if the guy is giving you this ATC for free, I'd absolutely take it if I were you! I'd keep the ATC if I were you, but if you don't want to do that, you could always sell it and have some xtra money towards the quad of your choice.
Even now, ATC's haven't really depreciated that much. If you check eBay, you'll see 3-Wheelers are still worth about $1000 more or less. And IMO, 1984 ATC 250R's are still pretty cool machines.
Just my $2 pesos.
