I read where Honda claims you can shift while holding the throttle open, as in you don't have to let off. Is this true, could a guy hold the thing wide open and just keep hitting the button and the thing will shift? This seems like a pretty cool feature if it's true.
Yep, It will shift with the throttle pinned. I have tried it and it does just as advertised. There is supposed to be an onboard computer sensor that senses the rpm's and adjusts the shift rate accordingly.
You guys really pin the throttle and shift …..OUCH! I have done it by accident but I don’t think its to good for the gears. Although it does Shift nice and smooth without letting off the throttle when climbing a Hill and down shifting
That is how I shift my rancher every time. It won't hurt it. I've got a friend with a foreman es that is 3yrs old and he's always power shifted it and never had a lick of problem. Besides, its the only way I can make my rancher wheelie!!
I asked my dealer about that when i picked up my Red 2001 Rancher ES 4x4 and he said there is no problem at all it is instantanisly and the only diffrence he told me is it shifts smoother if you let off!
