I read where Honda claims you can shift while holding the throttle open, as in you don't have to let off. Is this true, could a guy hold the thing wide open and just keep hitting the button and the thing will shift? This seems like a pretty cool feature if it's true.

Yep, It will shift with the throttle pinned. I have tried it and it does just as advertised. There is supposed to be an onboard computer sensor that senses the rpm's and adjusts the shift rate accordingly.

Greetings,

...but you'd better be holding on tight.

...and don't accidentally hit the down-shift button.

You guys really pin the throttle and shift …..OUCH! I have done it by accident but I don’t think its to good for the gears. Although it does Shift nice and smooth without letting off the throttle when climbing a Hill and down shifting

That is how I shift my rancher every time. It won't hurt it. I've got a friend with a foreman es that is 3yrs old and he's always power shifted it and never had a lick of problem. Besides, its the only way I can make my rancher wheelie!!

I have shifted with the throttle open but never pinned.

Yeah, don't hit the wrong button. It has happened to me several times, once it almost threw me over the handlebars
