I'm debating between a 400EX and a Warrior. I'm leaning towards a 400EX but is the lack of reverse a problem with trailriding. Please give me some honest opinions here.

Reverse is awsome to have if you do trail riding. If you race or do the dunes you really wont need it.If you need somthing with reverse go with the 300ex over the warrior. The 300ex does not have as much power as the warrior but handles much better and is lighter I beleive. If you want a quad with reverse and has some ***** theirs only one quad out there but I wont mention the name because it makes some pissed off readers in this forum and I hate to see them get all bent out of shape.Good luck on whatever you buy.

The only time I ever used reverse was when I was leaving the Boardmanville Bar at Glamis. That's just 'cuz I was too lazy to push it back a yard or so to get out of the parking lot. Most of the time I don't mind getting off and pushing a little. I mostly dune, reverse won't get you out in sand, you gotta get off and pick up the back end and move it over and try again.

I have been having a big problem with my 400EX..

I don't have enough time to ride it as much as I would like to

I decided I could live without reverse due to the great suspension of the 400

I agree with JRM. I have had my 400EX for 3 months now and havent needed the reverse yet. Lean in and nail it (squeeze the front brake a little if you have too) and you will be reversed quicker than you can try to find reverse on a 300ex and in the same amount of space. If you dont want to do that the 400 is very easy to push due to its light weight.

00' 400EX, FMF Powercore IV with spark arrestor, Dynojet rejetting, 14 tooth sprocket (on the way)

REVERSE? What do you need reverse for? Who rides backwards?

We have both a Warrior and 400EX. Reverse is nice to have, but not an absolute necessity if you are big enough to muscle the bike around when you get into a tight spot. Warriors make great trail quads, but the 400EX has WAY BETTER SUSPENSION! If I'm riding a new trail for the first time, and I don't know what to expect, I will take the Warrior (or a 4X4 Rancher if it looks like it will be really rough), because of the reverse. If I am farmiliar with the trail and there isn't anywhere I'll get into trouble, I'll take the 400EX and fly!
