That sucks. I wouldn't be mad at honda I would be talking to Hot cams.

The honda shop sad the skirt on the piston came apart and tore up the cylinder and the crank shaft
All the problems are below the piston pin, I doubt the cam had anything at all to do with the failure. Hot cams would have as much reason to replace his motor as the maker of his tires.

Personally I feel if it was a newly built image the skirt problem was cause by either a defective part, mishandling (i.e. dropped the piston before installing), or incorrect piston to cylinder fitment (i.e. to loose of a bore allowing excess wobble)

Of course in this situation I am assuming the shop investigating is the shop that did the work and I doubt they looked at it unbiased.

The best bet in a situation like this is to acquire a lawyer and have an independent shop look over the mess to determine if the shop has any liability.

Razor - You crack me up! Do you have a dartboard in your garage with different labels to blame when something goes wrong with a quad? Maybe one dartboard for quads, another for the car, maybe even one for when the kids act up?

Your 2hp would be at the rear wheel not crank, and I've seen 3 at the rear wheel with slip-on pipe, jet and filter. When did I say you didn't compromise some reliability with certain mods? prechargersWhat is a K&N PreCharger? The K&N PreCharger is a specially designed filter wrap made to extend the service interval of your K&N Filtercharger when used in very dusty conditions.
You have noticed a 2 hp increase by jetting alone, and a 3 hp increase with a slip on, Jet, and filter? HUH? The reliability thing was not intended towards you, just some of the modified 400ex guys that think their engines are still bulletproof. So do you think K and N is gonna say the prefilter is made to stop the elements that the regular filter cannot stop? Course not. Do some research on these forums and you will find information backing up my claims. Have a good one gents .

A good full system and filter will give you more than a "screaming 2 horsepower". Really, where are you coming up with this info. If you really really want I can dig up some dyno charts to show you, but a simple search will give you your answers. I think most good full systems jetted properly with a high flow filter on a EX will give you between 4-6hp.
Did'nt ya see the mag shootout?
