honda has the reliability, nothing will ever go wrong with it, suzuki is disgusting, honda is way better, but you'll find that out which ever one you buy, the Z will spend more time in the shop than it will on the trails if you ride it too hard. but thats my opinion of suzuki, others will disagree with me just to disagree we all know suzuki makes cheap cars as well as atvs and dirtbikes.

Don't pay attention to extremerider2811, he has no clue about the Z. My 03 Z has never had one problem and I have over 200 hours of hard desert and dunes riding on it. You won't go wrong with either quad, you just get more for your money with the Z.

Id go with the Z, i dont see how you can justify paying the same price for the honda as the Z. I must say though, i rode my friends 400ex in some tight trails and it required a lot less clutch work and was a bit easier to ride. Just get the machine that you think will justify the money you spend. Both are fun as all hell.

If your looking for a bike that has a few more MPH at last gear, suzuki is the way to go. If you are looking for a all-around type of bike the EX is the way to go. Im not sure about the 05 400exs but my 2002 has tones of torque to spare, great fuel economy even with rought riding, and I have not had to replace a single part on it yet. 400ex parts are ALOT cheap than KFX400 and LTZ400. I think people over rate the ltz400. Used, Honda goes for way less than kawasaki or suzuki. I got my 2002 400ex for $3600 on EBAY. It came with brand new sand shark2 paddles on brand new ITP rims, 2007 green sticker, 20 hours on the engine, never rolled abused and even got it delivered to me. In California that is a very good deal. I only see 2003 LTZ400s stock that go for over $4000!!!
