I just shake my head to all of these people who rant and rave about how all of these aftermarket pipes sound sooo good. In my opinion, they sound loud, uneven, rough,....... The stock system is so smooth and sexy sounding. I much prefer the smooth high reving sound comparied to the loud rough popping sound of others. Is there an aftermarket pipe that is quiet and smooth sounding that offers performance? The difference in sound to me is like indy car compared to redneck truck! What do you think

i think its just a matter of preference. I just did the S-bend on my quad and totally love it compared to stock. now it sounds like a real hi performance machine. but thats me, my daily driven vehicles have flowmaster mufflers, i love how they sound!

i dont think there is an exhaust that will give you power without the noise thou. They seem to go hand in hand. if you dont like it loud, i think the stock exhaust is your best bet.

I too prefer a quiet quad. To me, the little bit of performance is not worth the added noise.
Less sound = More ground

Yeah check out the Pro-Circuits they claim to sometimes even be quieter than a stock pipe with good performance gains too.

the gain isn't huge, but 4 or 5 HP is pretty big for just a little more noise.

You have your helment on, you don't hear it.

Try the SuperTrapp IDS2 Quiet Series. Horsepower gain with no noise gain.

I agree, I heard a Supertrapp at the Oregon dunes once, and it seems like it was way quieter (with 12 disks I think) than my WB E-series with 12 disks (but, I've also heard you don't get as much power out of the supertrapp). Of course, I also agree that the noise and power gain go hand in hand.. if you don't want the noise, look for power elsewhere. If there were a pipe that sounded halfway in between my E-series and stock, with just as much power gain, that would be the one to have.

I've been waiting to listen to someone's 400EX with an FMF Powercore IV-2 S/A pipe. FMF says its louder than stock, but quieter compared to others. But is supposed to give excellent power gain. I'll believe it when I hear one. I used to have a Grizzly which was street licensed, and I'd wake up my neighbors when I drove past their houses at 1:00 a.m. If the 400EX were only slightly louder than the Grizz with an aftermarket pipe, I'd get one.

I can tell you the PowerCore IV 2 SA is way louder than stock. It does sound good though, to me atleast . And yes, I have noticed very good power gains as well...more on the low end.
