Ok I think I found myself a good 250r for sale, and am going to buy it.

Now the downside, it needs some parts....
heh, first off it wont start, needs brakes/seat and rear racks.
How much would these parts run me?
Once I find out what the problem of why it wont start is I will post them.
Thanks

Are you sure it is a TRX250R or just a TRX250. There is a big difference, I know if I was buying a TRX250R it wouldn't be an 85 because they didn't exist yet. I also wouldn't be putting a rear rack on a 250R. You better figure out exactly what bike it is before you ask questions.

Well, I made a mistake in my post, its an 86 model.
I emailed the guy about it and asked for some pics, so if its not an "R" then this post didnt really hurt anyone anyway.

Brakes aren't expensive and they're easy to do.

Why won't it start? It could be a simple fix, could be a split-case fix. Try to find out. If the engine is junk, maybe you can get a really good price for it and rebuild the engine the way you want it. If the top-end is trash, that's not expensive to redo either, it can be done for less than $150 if you do the work.

Racks on a 250R???? NEVER!!!!

A grab-bar maybe, never racks.

If you can get an R for $800, do it! Especially if it's "all there." If the frame is tweaked, well, that could be expensive, but if the frame is straight (even if it has cracks, they can be fixed) and all the components are there, it's worth buying. Then you can take your time and build it your way.

The best deal I've ever seen on an R was the one my brother bought. . .it was a divorce situation and the guy had moved out and the woman told my brother he could have it with a set of paddles for $1000!
