mods for 400ex

Default mods for 400ex

i have a stock honda 400ex (2000) and i want to put some mods on it but keep the noise level down. i dont want to waste money and put on some wack a$$ parts i was thinking every week when i get paid i can put some money in it all i wanna do is trail ride it. if it helps i ride with blasters shees and a couple raptors,one guy has a kinda modded yfz450 has like pipe jet kit air box lid off and a k&n air filter.i wanna put some good mods on it maybe a rev box big bore kit pipe air filter im not sure what excatly to buy and i dont wanna buy trash im not fimaliar with a 400ex so im not sure what works and what dont any suggestions are very good
and i want to put on wider a-arms and axle is that a good idea for trail riding?
any chance of me takin that yfz??????

Wider A-arms and axle will help handling a lot but if you can't fit down the trail then what good is handling? Unless you ride down real wide fast trails then i would stay away from the a-arms and axle.

ok,i ride in some pretty wide trails they would be ok for me but how wide is too wide i was thinking maybe 2+ on each side and maybe 3+ on the axle ?????? maybe
and the motor mods i still dont know what to get and maybe a new carb??edlebrock?? some one help will the a-arms and axle help me in sand with sliding and ****??
i will have the money lil by lil so thats no prob but no one told me ne thing about the mods for the motor yet?

If you want to keep a YFZ or 450R in sight then you're gonna have to go big bore, cam, new carb, porting, and full exhaust. I've never ridden in the sand so i don't know about that. With plus 3 a-arms you should be around 50 inches wide, depending on the offset of your rims.

ok,heres my parts list i was thinking

dial-a-jet
fast kit 440 big bore,piston,rings,sleeve,stage 2 cam,rev box,abd gaskets
hmf sports series,air filter,jet (or) dg bullet round full system
msd ignition

all that i can get but is that a good list of parts to start with?plez let me know


AND ALL 400EX OWNERS LET ME KNOW WHATS UNDER UR PLASTICS!!!!

Mud and a stroker motor from powroll.

what would be a couple suggestions for motor mods was that list a good parts list and maybe a stroker????
IS RELIABILITY A CONCERN WITH MORE AFTER MARKET PARTS!!!!?????
