What is the stock gearing and chain length of the 86 & 87 models as compared to the stock gearing and chain length of the 88 & 89 models? From what i understand some years swingarms were longer then others and i was wondering if that is the case if the sproket size and length of the drive chains were different becuase of the lengths of the swingarms.
Thanks

Stock gears on 86-87 were 13/39. Chain lenght, Hmmmm. I always buy a 110 link and have plenty, I never count the links.
I think the 88-89 used 13/38, but I could be wrong. With the shorter swingarm of course you'll need a little less chain.
Swingarms on the 86-87 are steel, the 88-89 are aluminum and are 1 inch shorter. The 88-89 also have the fron A-arms reconfigured forward 1 inch. The shorter swingarm/forward A-arms basically moves the weight of the quad back 1 inch to help it turn better.
