Next week I'll be installing a stage 1 hot cam in my 03 and was wandering if it would be good to add more discs. Right now I have 7 out if the 16 installed on my IDS2 and has nice low and mid but thought that the advantage of the cam would make up for this if I added mor discs for more top end.

 

Oh and I more thing....will I be impressed with the new stage 1 Hotcam?

 

Go up to 12 discs and yes you will like the stage one. I would go up to a 48pj and about 155mj on the carb.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

You probably wont notice to much of a difference with installing only the satage 1 cam. Im not saying its a bad investment but, I was very dissapointed with the outcome on mine. However if you add a high comp. piston with the stage 1 cam LOOKOUT. You will have a screamin quad on your hands.

 

So from reading this I should order a High comp piston kit and do it all at the same time, if thats the case what is the stock ratio now? I found a wisco kit that is 10:1 and is that a good one to get? Thanks for the help so far

 

Im pretty sure the stock compression is 9.5:1. I would even consider a 416 kit but, with just a new piston & cam I think you will get what your lookin for. Good Luck with what ever you decide on.

 

stock compression is 9.1:1. i would look in to a 10.5:1 stock bore piston or 406 for best reliability. then run a thin cosmetic head and base gasket to provide a better squish and this will also raise the compression a bit.
