Default TRX400EX problem

I have a 2000 TRX400EX. It cuts out severly above about 1/3 throttle as if it were starving for fuel. I have good fuel flow and cleaned the carb but did not help. Any ideas?

Default TRX400EX problem

Ok it had sat up for a while about a year but got it out recently and was running good until this started. I figured carb so I pulled it down and clean it good but no help. Petcock screen was falling apart and clogging petcock so I cleaned the petcock and installed new screen which restored good fuel flow but again no help. Air filter is new, spark plug is new. It starts up great but when i give it gas it cuts out and kills it.

if your petcock packing came apart it has likely cloged a passageway or two in the carb...you may need to repeat your carb cleaning proceedure...DO NOT use carb spray anywhere near the carb if you can avoid it...it will cause damage to the seals rubber etc

tell me more I'll check back on you 1st thing tommorow

Also wanted to mention it is completely stock and has quite a few hours on it. Could valves need adjusting?

no choke sticking, already checked. (my symptoms are similar to a sticking choke though.) This carb has choke lever right on the side of carb. I checked its function while cleaning the carb.

I'm such a dumb ***!! Problem Solved!!

Choke was working fine, I was just using it backwards. When I thought it was off, it was acutally on.

Thanks for the help.
